Many people in the United States are on Medicare peek at this site, but there is a growing group of seniors who are on Medigap plans in Ohio. This coverage protects senior citizens with chronic illnesses who cannot afford to purchase supplemental insurance. Medicare does not pay for extended stays at nursing homes or hospitals. It pays for a set level of care, called “Medigap Level of Care,” from a hospital or nursing home. If you are a senior citizen eligible for Medicare but do not have Medicare coverage, you may be able to find a discount medical plan in Ohio that will provide coverage for the costs of your care.
In order to find out if you qualify for coverage through a Medicare Part D plan in Ohio, you must first decide what type of coverage you need. There are three basic types of Medicare Part D plans. You can choose a policy that provides a Medicare Advantage plan, a Medicare Part C plan, or a Medicare prescription drug plan. If you are currently covered by an employer sponsored health plan, your retiree health insurance plan, or you are eligible for Medicaid, you may also be able to enroll in a Medicare Part D plan.
Medicare Part D plans in Ohio allow you to select an open enrollment or closed enrollment plan. A closed enrollment plan allows you to enroll in Medicare Parts A and B at any time, but at a higher premium. Open enrollment plans are usually more affordable.
Seniors who are not yet eligible for Medicare Parts A or B should consider a Medicare Part C plan. Medicare Part C covers additional nursing care and hospitalization benefits that are not available through Medicare Parts A or B. Medicare Part C benefits include: vision care, hearing aids, prescription drugs, medical supplies, emergency travel insurance, and complementary medicine. Medicare Part C premiums are based on your current age, income, and claims history. Even if you are currently covered by an HMO or PPO type health care plan, you may qualify for other types of coverage through an agency.
Medicare Part D is a prescription drug coverage plan for seniors. This plan covers most Medicare prescriptions that are medically necessary. Medicare Part D also covers some preventive services, such as flu shots. There are three main Parts in this plan: Parts A and B cover hospitals, medical supplies, and drugs; and Part D pays the costs for some dental care. Although most Medicare recipients are already covered with one or more of these three Medicare Parts, there are still some special situations for which Medicare Part D is applicable.
